Theatrical Wardrobe Union (TWU) Local, 768 is
a professional services union that is dedicated to providing exceptionally
skilled wardrobe professionals to the live theatrical entertainment industry
to the greater Los Angeles Area. Our proficient local members work
in a wide range of fields which include: wardrobe attendants (dressers),
seamstresses, tailors, fitters, milliners, craft persons and wardrobe
supervisors.
TWU, 768 received its Charter on December
3, 1942 from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage
Employees and Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of
the United States, Its Territories and Canada, AFL-CIO,
CLC (IATSE). Previously
(1932 - 1942), this Local was known as the Theatrical
Wardrobe Attendant’s Union Local #17982 and was
originally an affiliate member of the American Federation
of Labor. Since
then, we expanded from a handful of members
to well over a hundred members in good standing.
We have collective bargaining agreements with most of the major theatres
and arenas in the Los Angeles area including the Ahmanson
Theatre, Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles Opera Company, Los Angeles Philharmonic,
Nokia Theatre, Staples Center, Pantages Theatre, Performing Arts Center
of Los Angeles, and the Mark Taper Forum. We also
represent the costume department employees (which include wig and make-up
employees) at Universal Studios Hollywood Tours/Theme Park.
Our fellow IATSE Local, Motion
Picture Costumers #705 provides representation for costume
employees in the film and television industry in Los Angeles |
